Saving Graphics in AOL 7

Introduction

When using AOL, you may have a problem saving graphics to your computer.  You may be unable to find a picture you saved, or AOL may be saving as a .art file (logo.jpg.art, or logo.art), or you may have a problem uploading the files to your e-commerce site (due to .art instead of .jpg or .gif).  When this happens, try changing the way AOL saves graphics by following these directions.

Instructions

Click on "My AOL"

Click "Preferences"

Click the "WWW" icon.

Click the Web Graphics tab at the top of the window, then make sure that the box that says "Use Compressed Graphics" is NOT Checked.  If it is checked, click the box to remove the check mark.  Click "OK" at the bottom of the window.

Important note:

If you are re-visiting a page since making the changes, you may also need to clear your Internet Cache in order to view the images clearly.

Under AOL Internet Properties, click the "General" tab so that you are looking at a window like the one displayed here.  Click the "Delete Files" and "Clear History" buttons, and then click OK.

On some systems you may need to sign off of AOL, and then sign back on before the changes take effect.
