Introduction |
This article helps you learn how to add a Child Department to your eMerchantClub e-commerce Web site.A Child Department can only contain products, and cannot contain other departments. A Child Department must reside under a Parent Department (meaning, it must be assigned to a Parent Department). |

Instructions |

Step 1: Create the department |
|

Enter your Site Manager. Click the Departments link. |
|
|
|
|
|
Click the Add Parent Department button. |
|
|
Step 2: Configure the department |
|
|
The Department ID is a number unique to this department. Child Departments are normally given numbers immediately following Parent Department IDs. |
|

|
|
|
Choose which Parent Department this new department is a Child of. |
|
|
|
|
|
Enter a name for the Child Department (such as Lounge Chairs). |
|
|
|
|
|
The Description appears when a customer clicks on the Child Department. |
|
|
|
|
|
The title tag appears on the top-left of your customer’s Web browser. |

Meta tags are hidden text that search engines use when they crawl your site. You must use HTML codes to enter the meta tags. (Meta tag tutor) |

This setting determines how many products your site puts on a particular department page. |

This determines how many “best seller” type products to display to customers who enter this department. |
|
|
|
|
|
Hiding a department makes the department invisible to your customers, but not to you. |
