This article helps you learn how to add a Parent Department to your eMerchantClub e-commerce Web site.A Parent Department can only contain Child Departments, and cannot contain products. |

Instructions |

Step 1: Create the department |
|

Enter your Site Manager. Click the Departments link. |
|
|
|
|
|
Click the Add Parent Department button. |
|
|
Step 2: Configure the department |
|
|
The Department ID is a number unique to this department. The Parent Department is normally given a round number (such as 100 or 500 or 30000), and the Child Departments are normally given numbers immediately after (101, 105, 110). |

|
Enter a name for the Parent Department (such as Home Furnishings). |
|
|
|
|
|
The Description appears when a customer clicks on the Parent Department. |
|
|
|
|
|
The title tag appears on the top-left of your customer’s Web browser. |

This setting determines how many products your site puts on a particular department page. |

Hiding a department makes the department invisible to your customers, but not to you. |
