Price Promotions

Introduction

This article helps you learn how to modify or create a Price Promotion.

A Price Promotion displays a discount when the member looks in their shopping cart, and does not show a discount on the product while the customer is browsing products.

Price Promotions are powerful because they allow you to specify particular shoppers, departments, products, and conditional discounts that only apply if the customer qualifies.

Note:  Combining this discount with Price Quote/Label, Coupon Promotions, Shipping Promotions, and other discounts may discount the product to a lower price than you plan on.  Use this feature with caution, and run a test purchase to make sure it performs the way you expect.

Instructions

Step 1:  Edit an existing promotion, or create a new one

On the Site Manager main menu, click the Promotions link.

Next, click the Price Promotions link.

To modify an existing promotion, click on the Name of the one that is closest to the offer you wish to present to your customers.

To create a new promotion, use the Price Promotion drop-down menu to select the promotion type you wish to offer to your customers, and then click the  button.

Step 2:  Configure the promotion

For example purposes, we will change the promotion named 111 to offer a 30% discount on orders over $100.00.

Enter an appropriate description as this is visible to them when they click on your site’s Promotions link.

The Status must be ON for your customers to see and use this promotion, and OFF if you do not want them to see and use it.

The Start date and End date determine the dates that the promotion is available.

Use Eligible Shoppers to determine which type of shopper can use the promotion.

The Buy field determines what qualifies the customer for the promotion.  To make this promotion require a minimum purchase of $100, change the first box to $100.00.

The Get field establishes what the customer receives when they qualify for the promotion.  In this example, the customer will qualify to get up to 999 products at a discounted rate.

The At field determines what discount the customer receives.  This can be configured to give a percentage or dollar discount by using the associated menu.

Rank is only needed when two or more promotions are turned on at the same time, and determines which promotion the customer receives on their order, if they qualify for more than one.

The lowest ranked promotion will apply, if the customer qualifies for more than one promotion.  For example, if you have one promotion that gives 20% off of orders over $50, and another promotion that gives 30% off of orders over $100, then set the 30% promotion as rank 10, and the 20% promotion as rank 20 or higher.  That way the customer will get the appropriate discount based on their purchase size.
